  1. YOUR EXTERNAL MODEM MAY BE CAPABLE OF HIGHER DTE SPEEDS
  2. THAT MAY ENHANCE PERFORMANCE OF YOUR MODEM.
  3.                  **NOTE**
  4. You must have a high speed serial port (16650 or higher) in order
  5. to take advantage of the higher speeds.
  6.  
  7. This readme file contains instructions on installing
  8. the High Speed DTE Settings for you Fax Modem. The readme.txt is
  9. broken down into the following sections.
  10.  
  11. Section I:  If your Modem is already detected By Windows 95 Version 4.00.950
  12. Section II: If your Modem is already detected By Windows 95 Version 4.00.950 B
  13. Section III: If your Modem is not yet detected by Windows 95
  14.  
  15. Windows 95 Version Check
  16. ------------------------
  17. Please check the version of Windows 95 that you are using. Right
  18. click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and select
  19. "Properties". Under "System", if your version reads 4.00.950 B,
  20. then you have OEM Service Release 2 of Windows 95. In this case,
  21. follow the instructions in Section II below. Otherwise, follow instructions
  22. in section I.

  24. This is not recommended for the basic user. If you do not
  25. understand the difference please do not use these instructions
  26. and contact technical support for more information.

  28. *****Instructions for adding High speed support to External Modems*****
  29.  
  30.  
  31. SECTION I
  32. -----------
  33. If your Modem is already detected By Windows 95 Version 4.00.950
  34.  
  35. 1. Click "Start", "Settings", then "Control Panel".
  36.  
  37. 2. Double click "System Devices" then click the "Device Manager" Tab
  38.  
  39. 3. Click on "Modems" then highlight the modem and click "Remove".
  40.   (This will remove the modem) After it is removed click "OK"
  41.  
  42.      **This next step is very important**
  43.  
  44. You will need to delete any OEM*.INF files that Windows has found
  45. along with the *.BIN files. This step is varies depending upon the
  46. version of Windows 95 that you have.
  47.

  49. 4. Using Windows Explorer or a standard DOS Prompt change directories
  50. to the C:\WINDOWS\INF directory.
  51.  
  52.   Delete the OEM*.INF Files
  53.   Delete the *.BIN Files 
  54. 5. You can now shut down your computer and restart.
  55.  
  56. 6. When prompted for a driver disk type in the path for the
  57. driver disk using the following path:
  58. A:\230k or B:\230k
  59.  
  60. This will allow Windows to find the 230K driver on the diskette.

  65. ----------
  66. If your Modem is already detected By Windows 95 Version 4.00.950 B
  67.  
  68. 1. Click "Start", "Settings", then "Control Panel".
  69.  
  70. 2. Double click "System Devices" then click the "Device Manager" Tab

  72. 3. Click on "Modems" then highlight the modem and click "Remove".
